Birdwatching and maritime routes

The Vihiluoto area is known for the abundant birdlife of Kempeleenlahti bay, which attracts both domestic and international birdwatchers. The Kempeleenlahti nature reserve begins right in front of the Finlandia Hotel Airport Oulu.

Nature is really close, as an 800-meter-long nature trail starts from our hotel parking lot, along which you will find the Vihiluoto birdwatching  tower and barbecue area, which are open to everyone. The Myllyoja birdwatching tower is also nearby, accessible from Lentokentäntie road via a junction near Myllyoja that turns towards the shore. Followe the road to the parking lot, from where a 600-meter long nature trail  leads you to the tower. From there you can walk to Kempeleenlahti nature reserve.

The hotel reception can lend binoculars to enthusiastic birdwatchers. You can also rent a backpack and spend a pleasant moment by the campfire grilling sausages.
